"We want to play our football"
HSV coach Tim Walter spoke about his expectations for the home match against Karlsruher SC in the press conference ahead of Matchday 7 on Thursday.
Tim Walter entered the press conference room of the Volksparkstadion at 2.30 pm on Thursday (1 September) - on the last day of the transfer period, which officially ends at 6 pm. Understandably, the first questions from the journalists revolved around the subject of arrivals and departures, before the focus turned to Saturday. At 8.30 p.m., HSV will welcome Karlsruher SC to the Volksparkstadion. After two defeats at the start of the season, the team from Baden has found its way back on track and is travelling to the Hanseatic city with three wins in a row. The sporting part of the press conference focused on how to stop this streak and instead secure the second home win of the season. Tim Walter spoke about...
... Karlsruher SC: KSC lost their best attacker, Hofmann, to VfL Bochum and therefore had to change their game a bit. Since then, the Karlsruher have mostly been operating with two top players and less with individual target players, but with a lot of offensive personnel. They like to do this with long balls and go for second balls. That has worked very well recently, but we are confident enough to find ways and means to play this. We don't have the best defence in the league for nothing and we want to defend successfully against KSC as well.
"Full of confidence and energy"
... our own approach: We have been more successful away from home so far, but we want to act in exactly the same way at home. We want to be wide awake from the start, full of self-confidence and full of energy. And: We want to play the football we stand for. With the fantastic support of our fans, we want to keep the three points here in Hamburg.
... the competition in the team: Every one of my players has the chance during the week to come to the fore and impose themselves. In this way, everyone can and should push each other to the best of their abilities. That's why we have this squad, which we are very happy with. We have implemented things in the spirit of HSV that will help us move forward. Of course, this also includes William Mikelbrencis, who first has to find his feet in the new environment and the new team. So let's let him settle in first. But: He has always played in France, although he is still very young, so if he can bring that onto the pitch with us, then he can play. In any case, he's made a very good impression in his first few days.
