"We deserved to lose”
HSV lost 2-1 away to VfL Osnabrück, suffering their second consecutive league defeat. Die Rothosen were naturally frustrated after the full-time whistle. Here is the match reaction.
Robert Glatzel: We deserved to lose. We started well, but then we conceded two unnecessary goals. We wanted to put things right in the second half, therefore it is unexplainable as to how we managed to get worse after the break. We didn’t put them under any pressure up front. We were unable to stay calm and to trust in our abilities. We were rash, and it’s a painful defeat. We need to analyse this game and step up our performances at home next week.
Daniel Heuer Fernandes: Just like last week, it was a poor overall performance from us today. It was a gutsy performance from them, the stadium was behind their team once more and they deserved the win. Meanwhile, we couldn’t keep calm. Our performance didn’t match that of what we expect from ourselves. We need to have a long chat about what went wrong, because we simply didn’t give enough. We want to do better, we know we can do better, but we’re not showing that at the moment. And that’s what separates a good team from a great team.
Ludovit Reis: We need to play a lot better and win games like this one and the one last week in Elversberg. I’m finding it difficult to find an explanation for tonight’s performance. That’s football, I guess. It feels awful, but we need to keep moving. We need to do better next week.
Tim Walter: Congrats to VfL on a deserved victory. We did alright up until our goal, but then we absolutely lost the plot. We were too slow and were weak in the tackle. Simply put, we were rubbish today, we didn’t play to a standard of which we are capable and therefore, we deserved to lose.
Tobias Schweinsteiger: I would like to congratulate my team and my coaching staff. It was a tough week; the lads left their hearts on the pitch and implemented the things we spoke about well. We were the better side tonight and we need to keep putting in performances of this fashion.
