“We always accepted the circumstances”
HSV win 2-1 in Berlin. The Rothosen discussed their third away win in a row and a chaotic game with a break of more than 30 minutes in the second half in the mixed zone.
Immanuel Pherai: It was a strange game because there was such a long break, but in the end we got a deserved win. I was pleased to be back on the pitch again. For the goal to make it 2-1, I saw Ludo in space on the edge. I was certain that he would score the header. We want to win every game and have to show that we can do that. I think that we’ve got more in us than we’ve shown up until now.
Ludovit Reis: It was a nice moment for me to score again after an injury lay-off of four months. I said to Manu two minutes before the goal that he has to look for me – it was a top assist. All in all, it was a really important game against a good team. We want to win every game and also would have liked to have done that last matchday. We were only focussed on this game.
"Our aim today was to send the many travelling fans back home happy with a win." Daniel Heuer Fernandes
Daniel Heuer Fernandes: The long break in play wasn’t ideal, but we accepted the game and the circumstances today at every point in time. We had a lot of energy on the pitch from the first till the last minute. We believed in ourselves and left the pitch deserved winners. Our aim today was to send the numerous travelling fans back home happy with a win. Obviously, we also won for ourselves: Wins always give you self-confidence and make for nice days.
Miro Muheim: For my goal, I just had a go with my right. The angle was perfect. I just followed through well and hit the ball sweetly. I wasn’t happy with the game last week, so it was even more important to put in a good performance today and to concentrate on the basics once again. I think that I did that today. The goal was the icing on the cake.
"The changes gave us the momentum again. That shows the strength that we have in this squad." Jonas Meffert
Jonas Meffert: We put in a dominant performance and had a lot of possession without maybe creating the best chances. Then on the field you could feel that the changes gave us the momentum again. That shows the strength that we have in this squad. Now, it’s our aim to get on a run. That’s the next step.
Tim Walter: It was obvious that we’d have to stay patient today. Our opponents defended very deep. He had a double chance through Andras Nemeth and he would have really deserved the goal. He did well in a lot of areas, but the ball just didn’t want to go in. After that, we still stayed in the game and also showed perseverance after half time. It wasn’t an easy game for either side with the long break in play. We would be well advised to keep going with the things that we worked on this winter. We want to be more tenacious in the tackle and be more alert. We want to go on a run, everything else is just a snapshot.
Pal Dardai: It was a game of two halves. In the first half, both teams had one big chance. Then we started the second half slightly better, before the break in play followed. Then both teams scored once and in my eyes we were the team initially closer to getting a second. It would’ve been exciting to see what would have happened if we had managed to hit back again. In the end, though, Hamburg were the better team. They played slightly better and scored a tidily worked second goal. We did everything, I can’t have any complaints of the team.
Referee Daniel Schlager: We couldn’t continue with the game. There were balls coming from all sides and they would’ve just waited for us to continue the game before throwing things again. We tried to influence the ‘Kurve’ through the team captain and head coach but after about 20 minutes we wanted to make a signal and went inside. That is the last method we had. If balls had been thrown again, we would have had to have postponed the game and then continued the game another time. The is the final consequence in theory which we obviously all wanted to avoid. I’m happy that the fans recognised the seriousness of the situation and concentrated on supporting their team
