Walter: "We'll make the best of it"
HSV coach Tim Walter commented on Monday afternoon on the current situation of the Rothosen and the prospect of returning players from the Corona isolation.
HSV's home match against FC Erzgebirge Aue, originally scheduled for last Saturday (12 March), had to be cancelled at short notice because the Hamburg team could not gather the necessary amount of healthy players due to the high number of Corona infections within the team. Today, Monday morning, the healthy players were tested again, after which it was clear: no new illnesses, training can go ahead.
And HSV coach Tim Walter was very pleased with the work of the players at his disposal: "It's a lot of fun to work with the boys and we're just happy to be able to train on the pitch," said the coach, adding: "It's a very small group right now, but that's okay because it allows us to train very specifically, to go into a lot of detail, which isn't always possible in the big group." Stay positive - that was Walter's motto. Or as he puts it himself, "We don't complain, we make the best of it."
"After all, we are not the only ones who are struggling with these circumstances right now" Tim Walter
Nevertheless, the coach and the team are happy when the sick players gradually return to training in the coming days. "They were isolated in the past few days, but were able to reel off their programme, which our athletics coaches gave them every day," the coach describes the past few days. For example, they trained at home on a spinning bike, and before the free test and the subsequent return to team training, the symptom-free professionals will be thoroughly checked again by the HSV doctors to ensure that they are fit for sport as a result of the Corona infection.
Certainly not the best possible conditions for the current training week, but Walter takes this pragmatically: "We are by no means the only ones who have to struggle with these circumstances. And as I said, we're not complaining, we're happy that we can train." In the coming days, we will also have one or two returning players.
