USA Tour: HSV Visit to the LA Lakers
At the beginning of the USA trip, the Red Shorts visited LeBron James' NBA team on Sunday. The unique atmosphere in the Crypto Arena thrilled the professionals.
Only about 36 hours after the successful end of the first half of the 2nd league against SV Sandhausen (4:2), the professionals of HSV once again experienced a very special event. The difference: this time Sebastian Schonlau and his teammates were themselves the spectators of an exciting sporting event and could follow the atmosphere from the stands. And not just anywhere, but at the LA Lakers' basketball game against the Brooklyn Nets.

At the beginning of the ten-day USA trip to California (13.-22.11.), which the HSV squad had begun in Hamburg early on Sunday morning, the entire team visited the match in the Crypto Arena in the evening shortly after arriving in Los Angeles (6.30 p.m. Pacific Time). Superstar LeBron James (37), who normally hunts for baskets for the Lakers, was unfortunately not to be admired due to injury, but the professionals were still enthusiastic about the atmosphere and the sport. "It's a real experience to watch such a sporting event in this hall," said Robert Glatzel, who was delighted with the overall package. His teammate Jonas Meffert agreed: "It has always been a dream of mine to watch an NBA game live. That it's now also the Lakers makes it special," said the HSV midfielder, who also likes to follow the games of the Golden State Warriors from San Francisco, but now enthusiastically secured himself a jersey of Anthony Davis. Davis was the Lakers' most successful scorer with 37 points in the 116-103 victory over the Nets.
Sonny Kittel and Tim Leibold, on the other hand, were more in tune with superstar LeBron James, whose name adorned their jerseys. Bakery Jatta also made sure to take a souvenir from the event. "You only see the players on TV otherwise. Now I have seen them live. That is something completely different again." The Crypto Arena, which holds around 19,000 spectators, was once again almost sold out that evening. The Hamburgers among them will probably not be able to come back any time soon, but they will carry the impressions with them for a long time - and not only on their bodies.
