Selke straight into the thick of things
HSV new signing Davie Selke was straight into the action during the Rothosen’s training camp in Austria. The attacker completed most of the team’s training programme on Wednesday: “it’s about working hard!”
There were promising signs on Wednesday morning’s session, with Robert Glatzel, who has recently been out injured with a tendon injury, as well as Davie Selke and Anssi Suhonen taking part in an intense fitness session for the Rothosen. Glatzel then switched to doing individual training over the course of the session, while Selke and Suhonen, who are gradually being introduced to high intensity training, were also fully involved in the following positioning drills and small-sided games.
For new signing Selke, who having suffered a foot injury at the end of last season had initially completed individual sessions in Hamburg, taking part in HSV’s Austrian training camp is the next step. On Wednesday morning the attacker was involved in all match training, with his workload only managed in the final game of the afternoon. Every touch showed how keen he is for this new task.
“I have worked successfully with head coach Steffen Baumgart and managing director for sport Stefan Kuntz previously,” said Selke, “As well as that, HSV is an extremely exciting club. I’m proud to play for HSV and would like to bring my strengths into the mix in order to achieve our goals as a team. To do that, it’s all about working hard.” This work begins at this training camp, and Davie Selke is right in the thick of it.
