HSV get Mangala on loan
The 20-year-old midfielder has joined us for a year on loan from VFB Stuttgart and trained today with the first team.
The HSV can welcome their sixth signing of the summer. 20-year-old Orel Mangala has joined on a one-year loan from VFB Stuttgart. Following a successful medical at the UKE Athleticum clinic, the midfielder signed a contract on Wednesday with the Rothosen. Mangala played in 20 Bundesliga games last year for the Schwaben club. “At first it was not clear whether Oriel would come. However, as soon as the opportunity arose, to sign a player of his quality, we acted quickly. We are very happy with the smooth negotiations with VFB Stuttgart, and we hope that Orel will make a big impact this season”, said sporting director Ralf Becker.
Mangala came through the RSC Anderlecht academy, before signing on loan for Borussia Dortmund in the 2016/17 season. With the Dortmund U19s, Opel came first in the A-Junior Bundesliga and contributed in 25 games (4 goals and 5 assists). After his loan move, Opel moved to Stuttgart last summer and made his debut on matchday one against Hertha BSC. Mangala has also regularly represented the Belgian youth teams from the U15s. His biggest success came when Belgium came third in the U17 World Cup in 2015.
Mangala trained today for the first time today with the first team.
