Heyer moves to Fortuna Düsseldorf
Hamburger SV and Moritz Heyer have reached a mutual agreement for the termination of the defender’s contract. The 29-year-old will join Fortuna Düsseldorf with immediate effect on a free transfer.
Hamburger SV and Moritz Heyer have reached a mutual agreement for the termination of the player’s contract with the club. Heyer will leave HSV with immediate effect. In 2020, HSV signed the versatile defender from VfL Osnabrück. He went on to make 126 competitive appearances for the club, scoring a total of 13 goals. The 29-year-old has ultimately only featured five times this season, playing his final match for the club in the fixture at home to FC Nürnberg in November 2024.
"Mo embodied the virtues of HSV right from the get-go, delivering impressive performances that led to him becoming a regular starter,” said director of professional football Claus Costa. “He has however not received many minutes of late and we have therefore sought to find a solution to suit both parties. Mo has always been a great sportsman and person and we wish him all the best for the future.” Heyer’s next step will be to join Fortuna Düsseldorf, who he signs for with immediate effect on a free transfer. HSV would like to thank Moritz Heyer for his commitment during his time at the club and wishes him all the best and success going forward.
