Hermann extends stay and receives professional contract
Hamburger SV and academy goalkeeper Hannes Hermann will continue to work together. Director of first-team football Claus Costa: “We want to continue this journey together.”
Hamburger SV and goalkeeper Hannes Hermann have agreed on an extension to the 19-year-old’s contract, which was set to expire in the summer of 2025, whilst the goalkeeper simultaneously signed his first professional contract. Hermann moved to Hamburg from HSV’s partner club SV Eichede in 2016, has come through the Rothosen’s youth teams and has played 23 games in the U19 Bundesliga this season. Additionally, the 19-year-old, who regularly takes part in first-team training with goalkeeping coach Sven Höh and has gone on four first-team training camps, has made seven appearances for the U21s in the Regionalliga.
“Hannes is a developing goalkeeper who has put in good performances for the youth teams over a number of years and has also been able to demonstrate his ability for the Germany youth national teams,” said director of first-team football Claus Costa, explaining the contract extension. He added: “Hannes has also had his first taste of senior football through regular first-team training and his first few appearances for the U21s in the Regionalliga. We want to continue this journey together,” Costa explained, outlining the plan for the talented and 1.91m tall goalkeeper who is currently part of the Germany U19s’ squad and has featured between the sticks seven times for the Germany youth sides.
Hermann is pleased with the trust placed in him and is looking forward to continued cooperation. “I’ve been playing at HSV since I was eleven years old – the club has become my home over this long period and I just feel very comfortable here,” the 19-year-old said, describing his connection to Hamburger SV. He also opened up on the sporting side of things and spoke about his motivation: “I’d like to improve step by step through my daily work and want to perform consistently. I see the best possible potential for myself to do that here at HSV. Therefore, I’m delighted to have signed my first professional contract.”
