European qualifiers and teammates face off: HSV players on international duty
Eight HSV players are in action for their respective nations this week. Some of them are fighting for qualification for the European Championships, whilst two of our players will even be battling it out against each other.
HSV’s head coach Tim Walter will be taking the team’s first training session of the week on Tuesday afternoon following two days off. There will be fewer players participating in training than usual since there are eight players away on international duty as well as multiple others still absent due to injury (Sebastian Schonlau, Gui Ramos, Ignace van der Brempt, Ludovit Reis, Anssi Suhonen).
HSV duo face off against each other
Laszlo Benes (Slovakia), Dennis Hadzikadunic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Andras Nemeth (Hungary) will be playing in Euros qualifiers as they look to qualify for EURO 2024. Benes will be in action for Slovakia on Thursday (16.11.23) at home to Iceland and on Sunday (19.11.23) away against Bosnia and Herzegovina – he will be up against his HSV teammate Dennis Hadzikadunic.
Alongside the clash against Benes and the Slovakia national team, Hadzikadunic also faces an away game in Luxembourg (16.11.23). Nemeth, following his appearances for the U21s, has been selected for Hungary’s senior side this time around and he will be in action on Thursday (16.11.23) against Bulgaria and on Sunday (19.11.23) against Montenegro. Valon Zumberi (Kosovo) will also be participating in European qualifiers, but he will be battling for qualification for the European Under-21 Championships. Additionally, William Mikelbrencis (France) as well as Nicolas Oliveira, Hannes Herrmann and Bülent Yalcinkaya (Germany) will be playing in friendlies for their respective national youth teams.
