Current status: This is the HSV summer schedule
After the end of the season, the HSV professionals went on holiday for about three weeks. Preparation for the 2022/23 season starts on 18 June.
Yesterday, Tuesday (24 May), the HSV professionals met again for a joint breakfast in the Volkspark, after which the well-deserved summer holiday began. Head coach Tim Walter's charges played a total of 41 competitive matches (34x 2nd Bundesliga, 5x DFB-Pokal and 2x Relegation) in the past season, and now the focus can and should be on the regenerative aspect of the three-week summer holiday. As usual, the Rothosen have been given individual training plans to ensure the best possible physical preparation for the summer. This will begin on 18 June with performance tests at the UKE Athleticum and the training centre in Volkspark.
The ball will start rolling again on 20 June, and a few days after the football training kick-off, the Hamburg team will travel to the summer training camp. The exact dates and possible test matches will be decided in the coming days. One thing is certain: the 2022/23 second division season will start on 15 July, the 2nd matchday will be held the following weekend, before the 1st round of the DFB Cup (29 July to 1 August) is on the agenda. The draw will already take place next Sunday (29 May) at the German Football Museum in Dortmund. DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and world champion Kevin Großkeutz will play out the draw - and thus set the starting signal for the 2022/23 season.
