Balde & Suhonen two of six Rothosen on international duty
While the HSV youngster prepares to celebrate his debut in Germany colours, Finland are getting ready for their tough test against the Three Lions.
The second international break of the current 2024/25 season is underway and six Rothosen are preparing for action with their national sides. The senior national players are Immanuel Pherai (Suriname), Anssi Suhonen (Finland) and Emir Sahiti (Kosovo), while Adam Karabec (Czechia U21), Bilal Yalcinkaya (Germany U19) and Fabio Balde (pictured above; Germany U20) make up the youth internationals.
Germany debut for Balde, while Suhonen encounters England
Following his integration into the HSV first team, the much-talked-about youngster, who recently signed his first professional contract with the Rothosen, prepares for his debut in Germany national team colours. Germany U20 head coach Hannes Wolf nominated the 19-year-old for the two upcoming international fixtures, firstly against Poland (11th October in Ahlen, kick-off 17:30 CEST) and then Ghana (14th October in Wuppertal, kick-off 17:30 CEST). For Balde, who was born in Hamburg and raised in Wilhelmsburg, this is sure to be a great honour.
An exciting international period awaits midfielder Anssi Suhonen (pictured) as well. He and the Finland national side first take on Ireland in the Nations League (10th October, kick-off 20:45 CEST) before facing European Championship runners-up England (13th October, kick-off 18:00 CEST) – a tough test against one of the highest-quality opponents on the international stage. Emir Sahiti will also feature in that same competition, with matches lined up in Lithuania (12th October, kick-off 15:00 CEST) and against Cyprus (15th October, kick-off 20:45 CEST). Travelling the furthest of anyone, however, will be midfielder Immanuel Pherai who will be flying over a thousand miles to meet up with the Suriname national team. The 23-year-old will take part in his nation’s COCACAF Nations League fixtures against Costa Rica (11th October, kick-off 22:00 CEST) and Guyana (16th October, kick-off 02:00 CEST).
Last but not least, Adam Karabec and Bilal Yalcinkaya will also be in action at youth international level with their respective nations’ sides. Karabec and Czechia are preparing for their European U21 Championship qualifiers against Wales (11th October, kick-off 18:30 CEST) and Lithuania (15th October, kick-off 18:00 CEST), while Yalcinkaya joins up with the Germany U19 national side ahead of a friendly tournament being held in Romania in which they will face Spain (9th October, kick-off 14:00 CEST), Romania (12th October, kick-off 10:00 CEST), and Norway (15th October, kick-off 14:00 CEST). All the best to those taking part in what will hopefully be a successful and injury-free international break!
