“Back down to work” as preparations for Paderborn begin
Following the home victory over 1. FC Kaiserslautern, the Rothosen began work in training ahead of the next fixture on the road: “It’s straight back down to work with full focus on Paderborn.”
After the 3-0 win at home to 1. FC Kaiserslautern last Friday night, which Merlin Polzin missed due to illness, the team were given two days off following a regenerative session on Saturday. Preparations ahead of the trip to Paderborn therefore began on Tuesday (25th February) and will continue until Saturday before Sunday’s away match. Robert Glatzel will have his involvement in team training increased over the course of the week. He made his partial return to team sessions last week following a near four-and-a-half month absence due to injury.

Glatzel will gradually partake in more and more of training throughout the week as Ludovit Reis and Fabio Balde had successfully done of late. Both have now made returns to full fitness and produced impressive displays against the Red Devils, assisting their team in the convincing win over FCK, who had started the game level on points with HSV. These players provide fresh impetus at the start of a new week of training with sights set on another tough test. The coaching staff had every player available to them as work got going again, apart from the long-term injured Noah Katterbach and Bakery Jatta, as well as Matheo Raab, Immanuel Pherai and Aboubaka Soumahoro, who are all in rehabilitative training. Centre-back Dennis Hadzikadunic explained after the win on Friday that the Rothosen will not simply be resting on their laurels following the impressive victory: “We can enjoy celebrating this win somewhat but then it’s straight back down to work with full focus on Paderborn.”
