1:1 - HSV start 2022 with a draw
HSV drew 1-1 with Dynamo Dresden on Friday evening to start the new football year. Robert Glatzel's goal was not enough for victory at the Rudolf Harbig Stadion.
Hamburger SV faced SG Dynamo Dresden on Friday evening (14 January) in the first league match of 2022. In front of only 1,000 spectators in the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion, the Rothosen were under a lot of pressure at the beginning, but still managed to score the 1:0 through Robert Glatzel (37th). In the end, however, this goal was only enough for a draw, as the home side also scored in the second half through their sure-fire attacker: Christoph Daferner scored after one hour to make the final score 1-1.

Effective Rothosen...
HSV coach Tim Walter was able to revert to his established number 1 in the first competitive match of 2022: Daniel Heuer Fernandes returned to the goal after time out with his injury - and had a lot to do. The home side started with a lot of verve and showed that they wanted to win their third home match in a row. The Dresdner practised a high and intensive pressing, put the HSV under pressure again and again and played in their own possession purposefully and without hesitation forward. They dominated the game for the first quarter of an hour before the Hamburg team stabilised and managed to keep the game more balanced, even though they did not yet have any compelling offensive actions of their own. After half an hour, the score was 8:0 in favour of Dynamo, although these shots rarely caused any real danger. It was a different story for the Rothosen, who scored with their first chance after the stabilisation: Reis initiated a quick counter-attack, Kittel served with pinpoint accuracy and Glatzel scored with a fine finish (37th). Effective HSV! And this goal gave the Walter team additional security, now they owned the game, which could have even gone into half-time with a higher HSV lead, but Alidou missed the second goal from a very promising position shortly before the break.

... but a fair draw
After the change of ends, HSV took the momentum from the final phase of the first half with them and dominated the game, two good goals by Glatzel in the first few minutes were the reward. And yet there were suddenly long faces on the side of the visitors, because after about an hour of play, exactly what had happened the other way round in the first half happened to them: a goal from nowhere. In the middle of HSV's dominant phase, Dresden struck in the person of their top scorer Daferner, who scored the 1:1 with his head after a switch action. This put everything back to square one and the game virtually started all over again. Initially, the Black-Yellow team had the advantage, as the hosts entered the dangerous zone several times, especially via their right attacking side, so that Heuer Fernandes had to show all his skills twice against Königsdörfer and had to save in the highest emergency. And so, in the final phase of this not high-class, but very intense game, the Red Shorts were able to take the reins once again, but in the decisive scene they did not have luck on their side: SGD keeper Broll fished Kittel's shot out of the corner of the goal and thus held on to this 1-1, which overall - more game shares for HSV, more goal attempts for Dynamo - can be classified as fair.
