With a clear edge towards the Osterdeich: Already two days before the upcoming Nordderby at SV Werder Bremen (18 September, kick-off: 8.30 pm), Tim Walter presented himself at operating temperature in the press conference. After the last-minute win against SV Sandhausen (11 September, 2:1), the HSV head coach is determined to take the next step in his development and get the corresponding result at his arch-rival. The coach explained in today's press conference how this can work - especially with regard to the exploitation of chances -, what significance the game has for the coach and his charges and to what extent the deadline-day newcomers can help at the Weserstadion.
The 45-year-old spoke in detail about…
... the improved use of chances: "First of all, it's nice that we create so many chances at all, because that's the most difficult thing in football. But the boys keep getting into positions that they are not used to and that are not wanted by other coaches. That's why some of them lack experience, and that's why it takes a while. In training, however, they do outstandingly well, so I'm totally relaxed. We are happy about the opportunities we have created and want to make better use of them in the future.
... the special importance of the game: We had bad derby experiences against St. Pauli, we have to learn from that. We want to play the game differently on Saturday and survive in the heated atmosphere. But you can't tell the players something like that, because they have to experience it for themselves. We need that in order to develop in the long run. We are aware of the explosive nature of this game, especially with regard to the fans. Nevertheless, the anticipation prevails. We would like to start right away.

... the newcomers Mario Vuskovic and Tommy Doyle: Since Mario has been here a bit longer, he knows the routines better. Nevertheless, you only change something in central defence if it's really necessary. Especially in view of our playing philosophy. But he is contributing well and is really fun. Tommy is trying to implement everything in training, but he still has to get used to the new routines. He will need a little more time to settle in, but he has sensational prerequisites. We are very happy with the boys, but that applies to the entire squad.
