Walter: "We are only interested in Sunday".
In the Press Conference before the home match against SSV Jahn Regensburg, HSV coach Tim Walter spoke about the crowd and the return of Captian Sebastian Schonlau, among other things.
The last week of the 2022/23 season's 2. Bundesliga first round, which was shortened by the World Cup in Qatar, is on the agenda and has another three games in store for all 18 competitors in the English format: HSV hosts SSV Jahn Regensburg on Sunday (6 November), travels to SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Wednesday (9 November) and concludes the first leg with a home match against SV Sandhausen on Saturday (12 November). That means three games in seven days. For HSV head coach Tim Walter, however, the internal calendar currently only provides for the next two days: final training tomorrow, Regensburg on Sunday. In front of more than 45,000 spectators at the Volksparkstadion, the 46-year-old and his team want to improve their home record at all costs and get the next three points against Jahn. Tim Walter talked about how this is to be achieved at a press conference this Friday afternoon, including ...
... the attendance: "We have managed to inspire the people here in Hamburg and take them with us. We are open, we are approachable, "one of them", so to speak. People sense that and like to come to the stadium. They enjoy it, we enjoy it and now we want to score even more goals and concede fewer.
... the return of Sebastian Schonlau: We know that Bascho is an important player for us. He takes responsibility, is the mouthpiece of the boys. He is my extended arm. Of course his return is positive. But at the same time we defend together and here he is just one cog of many. We want to and have to do better as a team.
... the initial phases: The opponent usually has a lot more energy at the beginning and heaps it on at full throttle. They try to be successful against us in the first minutes. We have to be more alert and consistent. We have already proven that we can play good football in the first 20 minutes. We don't let ourselves get carried away by setbacks. We showed that last time in Paderborn.
... the 'Englishe Woche': We want to win on Sunday. We are only interested in Sunday. Everything else doesn't interest us. We know that every opponent in the 2nd division has a strength. We have to be awake against every team and act in such a way that we take them seriously. And that's what we do. Regensburg have a very good striker up front, who can hold on to balls and extend them. In addition, Jahn is very aggressive and strong in running. We have to defend against that. We also have to be tough and put a lot of energy into it.
