Until 2024: Professional contract for Robin Meißner
The 21-year-old attacker signs his first professional contract and is tied to HSV until the summer of 2024.
The chosen path is continued: After Leo Oppermann, Robin Meißner also signs his first professional contract and is thus another young player in the Rothosen squad who is now tied down for the long term. The 21-year-old attacker signed a contract this Thursday lunchtime that is valid until 30 June 2024.
"After Leo Oppermann, Robin is the next young player from our own ranks to sign a professional contract. We still see a lot of potential in him and are very happy that he has chosen our path. He is a clear guy and a smart footballer who always finds the spaces that hurt the opponent. His goal-scoring is superb, and he also has a good nose," says sports director Michael Mutzel about the attacker's qualities. The Hamburg native, in turn, is pleased about the trust placed in him and looks forward to the coming years in the HSV jersey with confidence: "I am very happy that I have now been able to sign my first professional contract. A little more than a year ago, I signed an U21 contract on campus, and since then things have gone extremely well for me. Every young boy dreams of becoming a professional. Then when it happens in your hometown, it's all the more wonderful."
Robin Maximilian Meißner was born on 8 October 1999 in Hamburg and earned his first footballing spurs at Willinghusener SC. At the age of twelve, the centre-forward switched to the youth department of FC St. Pauli and played his way through all the youth teams in the following years. After eight seasons at the Millerntor, he moved to Volkspark in the summer of 2020, where the right-footer was initially earmarked for the U21 team. However, the strong performances until the Corona-related drop-out in the Regionalliga Nord (ten games, six goals) ensured a quick jump into the professional squad, which was completed at the beginning of February. The high school graduate celebrated his debut for the 1st team at the Millerntor, of all places, when he was substituted in the closing minutes of the city derby (1 March, 0:1). By the end of the season, he had made nine further appearances, in which the sports management student contributed three goals and two assists. Meißner has not yet made any appearances this season, as he tore an inner ligament in his right knee before the start of the season. However, "Poldi", as he is called by his teammates, already returned to the matchday squad for the home game against SV Darmstadt 98 (22 August, 2:2) and is now working towards many more appearances in the Rothosen jersey.
