HSV and HELM in India: Visiting Plantix

For HSV, the visit to India was an opportunity to get to know the Plantix app, which promotes plant health, following an invitation of HSV sleeve partner HELM.

As part of a trip for the “From the field to the fan shop” project, a HSV delegation consisting of Marieke Patyna (Director of Sustainability) and Sascha Steinbrück (Head of Merchandising) visited India once again. An important part of the visit was the exchange with the agritech start-up Plantix, a subsidiary of HELM AG.

Near Pune, the HSV delegation gained exciting insights into the company, which specializes in the detection of plant diseases. The Plantix app provides farmers and smallholders with the opportunity to diagnose plant pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies free of charge and within seconds using photos and AI. If a disease is detected, the user receives treatment suggestions and product recommendations, for example for pest control.

The app also provides information on the correct handling and application of pesticides and herbicides, step-by-step cultivation advice, and recommendations on daily tasks and optimal timing, taking into account the local weather conditions. This technology is already being used by six million farmers and smallholders worldwide, helping them to make smart agronomic decisions and thus farm more efficiently.

HSV's sleeve partner, HELM AG, offers a portfolio of innovative digital agricultural tools and, together with Plantix, is driving forward the digitalization of agriculture. The Hamburg-based company has set itself the goal of providing farmers with sustainable support, making it easier for them to access modern technology, reduce environmental impact and increase productivity in the long term.
The journey to India left a lasting impression on everyone involved. The collaboration with strong partners such as HELM AG and innovative start-ups such as Plantix shows the importance of joint commitment to promoting sustainable developments and positive change. HSV and HELM are joining forces to promote future-oriented solutions.
