HSV to face Eintracht Braunschweig in the first round of the DFB-Pokal

Hamburger SV have been drawn against Eintracht Braunschweig in the first round of the DFB-Pokal (6th to 9th August), following the results of Sunday night’s draw. Former footballer and current TV pundit Thomas Broich conducted the draw, alongside DFB vice-president Peter Frymuth. The most recent meeting between the sides took place on the final matchday of 2020/21, with HSV winning 4-0 at home. Braunschweig were relegated at the end of that season. 

“We are excited for the Pokal and for this big game. Braunschweig were in the second division last season, so we know that we will be up against a tough task. Of course we want to reach the next round,” said HSV head coach Tim Walter.
