Stephan Ambrosius suffers ACL tear
The 22-year-old centre-back was injured during training yesterday and is now set for a long spell on sidelines.
An MRI scan at the Hamburg-Eppendorf University Hospital on Tuesday evening confirmed the devastating news that HSV centre-back Stephan Ambrosius has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The 22-year-old, who suffered the same fate back in December 2018, picked up the injury during team training yesterday and will be sidelined for several months.
The Rothosen will now be without a key pillar in the centre of defence, with Ambrosius having established himself as a regular at the back this season. The HSV youth product, who has been with the club since 2012, has featured in 26 of the 31 competitive games so far, also earning himself an appearance for the Germany U21s.
HSV will give him as much support as possible on his record to recovery. We all stand behind you, Stephan!
