Toni Leistner Released

Toni Leistner will no longer play a role in the preparation for HSV's upcoming 2. Bundesliga match at 1. FC Heidenheim on Saturday or for the rest of the season's planning. The 31-year-old defender has been released by the club and free to search for his new club. 

The background to this is the mutual agreement in the past few days. In open-ended talks between HSV officials and Toni Leistner, they first discussed the central defender's sporting situation and his current role within the team. He did not want to accept this in the form in which it had been presented and, for his part, clearly expressed his wish for more playing time this season, in which he had not yet been used on the first four match days and in the first round of the DFB Cup. As a result, the decision was made that it would be better to release him for a club search in order to direct the focus and energy of the team and the entire club to the upcoming match at 1. FC Heidenheim and the further tasks.
