Successful starting debut for Faride Alidou
The 20-year old homegrown player was convincing against SC Paderborn with many good scenes and justified the confidence of coach Tim Walter.
He was again in the thick of things for Tommy Doyle's winning goal: Faride Alidou also made a final sprint from the edge of the pitch towards the corner flag in front of the HSV corner in the 94th minute to celebrate the Englishman's last-minute goal extensively with his teammates. Alidou himself had replaced Manuel Wintzheimer in the 73rd minute to great applause from the supporters. There were even loud chants for the 20-year-old left winger, who had previously celebrated his starting debut for HSV after playing his first 27 minutes for the professionals against Düsseldorf last matchday and left a good, carefree impression.
And he was also convincing this time and justified the trust of coach Tim Walter. He set up Moritz Heyer's first goal (5th) with his shot against the post and also had several good opportunities to score himself. The best opportunity came in the 58th minute, when he was completely free in front of the SCP box after an assist from Robert Glatzel, but failed to hit keeper Jannik Huth with a shot that was not entirely successful. Nevertheless, the performance whetted the appetite for more and will certainly not be the last starting appearance for Alidou, who has played for HSV since 2012.
