Successful balance of the USA tour
Board member Jonas Boldt and coach Tim Walter look back positively on the days in California and want to take steps into the market in the future.
HSV is back in Hamburg. Yesterday afternoon (23 November), the Rothosen squad landed back at Helmut Schmidt Airport in the Hanseatic city, which is cold compared to Los Angeles, after its ten-day (13-22 November) trip to the USA. But a look back at the past time in California warms the hearts of those responsible. With two test matches won (1:0 vs. OCSC; 7:0 vs. VC Fusion), numerous contacts made, school and football school training sessions held, games attended in the top American sports of football and basketball (LA Chargers, UCLA and LA Lakers) as well as cultural highlights such as a Hollywood tour and visits to the famous beaches of Venice and Malibu Beach, a very positive conclusion can be drawn from the trip.

"The impressions will stick".
"It was a lot of fun for everyone and a very good change for the whole team. We took everyone with us and brought them together once again. That's a point we need to make in order to achieve something. We can only do it as a team. That's why we need everyone for this. The way the boys were together on the road and gaining impressions was nice to see. We also trained, but also gave them a lot of freedom," Tim Walter looks back on the days with great satisfaction.
"The trip contributed to team building," Jonas Boldt also says. "The players had to organise themselves to some extent. It's very interesting to see that. They also got a lot of impressions. That will stick."

Positioning for the coming years
The experience and knowledge that Boldt and the other people in charge of the club have gained in their exchanges with US clubs, agencies or potential sponsors should also be used profitably. "It has been very good to get a picture of certain processes in the US market and to understand how some things work here in order to possibly take away ideas for the future," explains Boldt.
Possible further steps would have to be evaluated in the coming months. "You don't fly over once and take money with you. This has to do with positioning in the coming years," the executive knows about the great challenge of building something in the international market in the long term. At the invitation of the German consul in Los Angeles, Boldt and Finance Director Eric Huwer flew on to San Francisco to make further appointments in Silicon Valley.
Only time will tell how sustainable the contacts with the USA will be. But this trip was a successful start to taking the first steps. And in California, HSV not only made an impression with its presence, but also left a lasting footprint (for the time being) with a graffiti in downtown Los Angeles.
