Simon Terodde to return to training this week
The two-week quarantine for striker Simon Terodde will end on Monday night. He is expected to return to training on Thursday.
Yesterday at 14:00 CEST (28/3), Simon Terodde shared an Instagram post from his flat, which will have pleased all HSV fans. “33 hours to go. I can’t wait to get back out on the pitch,” said the club’s top goalscorer this season (20 goals), referring to his two-week quarantine period coming to an end during the night on Monday. Terodde has had to spend two weeks inside his own four walls at home after testing positive for coronavirus in mid-March. The striker therefore missed the home game against 1. FC Heidenheim, which HSV won 2-0 thanks to a strong team performance. This was great news to family man Terodde, who did feel a bit under the weather just after his infection, although he quickly improved. Nevertheless, a few small steps need to be taken before his return to the training ground.
“His corona tests came back negative, so his quarantine will end tonight. He will complete some performance tests at the UKE tomorrow and then train individually. Another similar programme is scheduled for Wednesday, before he rejoins the team on Thursday,” said head coach Daniel Thioune. Terodde, who has only been able to work in his ‘home gym’ over the last two weeks, should have his workload carefully managed, especially considering that HSV have two games coming up soon: after the away trip to Hannover 96 (4th April, 13:00 CEST), Thioune’s side will host SV Darmstadt 98 just five days later (9th April, 18:30 CEST). Despite the caution being taken regarding his return, Simon Terodde is still extremely excited to be back – his Instagram is proof of that.
