Schonlau sidelined with calf injury
The HSV captain will be sidelined for several weeks after suffering another calf injury, with Schonlau undergoing a thorough medical check following the away win in Nuremberg.
Hamburger SV will be without captain Sebastian Schonlau for several weeks. Schonlau was taken off with a knock in the closing stages of the Rothosen's 2-0 win at 1. FC Nürnberg on Sunday, 17th December, and underwent a thorough medical at the UKE Athleticum in the days that followed. These tests revealed that he had suffered a partial ligament and muscle tear in his left calf.
As a result, Schonlau will be sidelined for several weeks, meaning he will miss HSV's return to training after the winter break on 2nd January. The captain had previously missed several weeks in the first half of the season with an injury to his right calf. He will now have to work hard once again to recover and return to team training.
