Sahiti into the thick of it after international duty
On Thursday, the players who had been away with their national sides returned to the Volkspark. Among them was Emir Sahiti, who took part in his first training session in HSV colours.
The international break saw five HSV players jet off to different parts of the world. Among them was Emir Sahiti, who had to meet up with the Kosovo national team almost straight after his signing shortly before the end of the transfer window, although he did have time to provide some enthusiastic support as a spectator at the home match against SC Preußen Münster.
On Thursday (12th September), Sahiti joined his new teammates on the training pitch for the first time and was almost immediately in the thick of it. The versatile attacking player did not shy away, rather was active from the off, strong on the ball, explosive in his acceleration and slick in his dribbling. After his first training session, he hopes to be included in the team as soon as possible.
The final two players to return to Hamburg from international duty were Immanuel Pherai and Bilal Yalcinkaya, although both trained individually rather than joining the team on the field. Adam Karabec had just been focusing on running drills until today, but he and Dennis Hadzikadunic, as well as Sahiti, were all in team training. Whether Sahiti has earned the right to go straight into the squad for Sunday’s game against SSV Regensburg is the question. As is the case with football, and as HSV legend Franz Beckenbauer used to say, we will have to see.
