Robert Glatzel extends contact with HSV
HSV’s top goalscorer in both the last two campaigns has extended his contract until 2027.
Robert ‘Bobby’ Glatzel has extended his contract at Hamburger SV by a further two years, until 2027. The 29-year-old has featured in 78 competitive games for the club and has been involved in 58 goals in this timeframe (46 goals, 12 assists). He moved to Hamburg in 2021 and finished as the club’s top goalscorer in both of the last two seasons.
“Although we have missed out on achieving our goal of winning promotion in the last two years, this has been the best time of my career so far. I have never felt so at home at any other club,” Glatzel said. The striker scored a club-high 22 goals in 2021/22 and followed it up with another team-best tally of 19 this past season, in addition to finishing as the top goalscorer in the DFB-Pokal in his maiden season with HSV. He will now head into his third campaign with the Rothosen. “The team, the club, the fans and the surroundings here are the perfect fit for me, which is why I’m looking forward to staying at HSV for several more years in order to continue pursuing our aims,” he said.
“Bobby is a very important player in our team, not only due to the many goals he has contributed.”
“Bobby is a variable centre-forward who encompasses multiple aspects of the game,” said Claus Costa, head of professional football at HSV. “He is a key figure in our team, in addition to having proven his ability to score goals at a consistent and impressive pace over the last two seasons.”
Jonas Boldt, director of sport, is also pleased to have been able to agree a contract extension with the striker, who featured in all 36 league matches this past season. “Bobby is a very important player in our team, not only due to the many goals he has contributed over the last two seasons and the ones he is sure to score in the future. His decision to remain in Hamburg at HSV and to extend his contract again shows that he is convinced of the journey the club are on, one that we will now continue together.”
