Noah Katterbach trains with guest match permit
The 21-year-old left-back is to be loaned out by 1. FC Köln and sign a loan contract until the end of the season. Katterbach will join HSV training on Saturday morning with permission to play as a guest.
Reinforcement with a lot of potential: Noah Katterbach is moving from 1. FC Köln to Hamburger SV, subject to final details, and is expected to sign a loan contract until the end of the current 2022/23 season. The 21-year-old left-back has been playing for FC Basel 1893 on loan since January 2022, and the loan contract with the traditional Swiss club, which was originally still valid until next summer, is to be terminated soon. Katterbach has already arrived at the HSV team hotel S/O Sotogrande and will train with his new teammates on Saturday morning thanks to a guest match permit.
"Due to the vacancy that has arisen, we wanted to find a quick, but above all good solution at the left-back position. With Noah Katterbach, we are now gaining a player who, with his skills, offers optimal conditions to fulfil our complex requirement profile. His playing strength in the build-up and his very good training will help us just as much as his considerable experience, which he already brings with him despite his young age," says HSV board member Jonas Boldt. The newcomer is also looking forward to his time with the Rothosen: "HSV convinced me very quickly to make the switch. I'm looking forward to getting started straight away and getting to know the team on and off the pitch, and I want to contribute my strengths to our joint success."
Noah Katterbach was born on 13 April 2001 in Simmerath near Aachen and joined the youth section of 1. FC Köln at the age of seven. From then on, he went through all the youth teams there, was regarded early on as one of the country's greatest left-back talents - and celebrated his Bundesliga debut on 5 October 2019 at the age of 18 years, five months and 22 days. This was followed by 39 more competitive appearances for the "Effzeh" professionals before Katterbach was loaned to FC Basel 1893 in January 2022. At FCB, the 1.80-metre-tall left-footer played in 33 competitive matches, in which he scored three points (one goal, two assists). Parallel to his club career, the two-time Fritz Walter Gold Medal winner (2018, 2020) played a total of 34 junior international matches for the DFB (three goals). From now on, the current U21 international wants to demonstrate his diverse qualities in the HSV jersey.
