“Trying to keep our heads up and carry on fighting”
HSV head coach Steffen Baumgart fielded questions from journalists before the Rothosen’s trip to Braunschweig.
Steffen Baumgart sat down to answer questions from the media at a press conference on Thursday (25th April) ahead of his side’s away clash against Eintracht Braunschweig. Among other things, Baumgart revealed that all of HSV’s players will be available for the match save for Laszlo Benes. ...the current situation: The season isn’t over yet, there are still four games left. We still believe that we’ve got a chance, even though we’re in a much trickier situation since the teams around us are playing extremely well at the moment. We know it’s going to be tough to achieve our goal, as we’ve dropped a lot of points over the course of the season. That’s why our sole focus now is winning games, regardless of the current standings.

...his team: We’re in a difficult spot, as we’ve played well in a lot of games, but don’t have the results to show for it. That was the case for the Kiel game. It does something to you. That’s why the atmosphere in the dressing room isn’t as upbeat as you’d want it to be at the moment. The boys are trying to keep their heads up and carry on fighting. On Saturday, we’ll see if our work will pay off not just in terms of the football, but also mentally.
...Eintracht Braunschweig: We’ll need to play well, since my former assistant Daniel Scherning has steadied the ship at Eintracht. They’re doing good things in Braunschweig. They have the best defensive record in 2024 and have won more points than us since the winter break. We want to have a lot of possession and will need to play with a lot of energy if we want to carve out chances, win the game and stay in the running for third place, no matter how unlikely the odds are
