Intensive training session in the Volkspark as focus turns to Darmstadt match

Hamburger SV have begun their preparations for Saturday’s home clash against SV Darmstadt 98 with an intensive training session in the Volkspark.

After two rest days following the impressive derby victory in the Millentor, the HSV have turned their preparations to their next 2. Bundesliga match. The Rothosen face SV Darmstadt 98 in the Volksparkstadion on Saturday, 16th March (13:00 CET) and begun their preparations with an intensive ninety minute session on Wednesday afternoon. After warming up, Hannes Wolf’s side participated in drills focusing on quick passing with few touches. The session became more competitive as the team consolidated the new style of play before the session concluded with a classic match. There was also some good news as Kyriakos Papadopoulos returned to participate in the full session. The Greek defender has been forced to miss the last few weeks with a knee problem following cartilage damage. Jairo Samperio is also making progress as he continues his rehabilitation following a heavy cruciate ligament rupture. The 25 year-old took partially took part in today’s session before continuing his rehabilitation individually.

After the session, HSV head coach Hannes Wolf spoke briefly about the upcoming match against Darmstadt and he made it clear that previous successes are not influencing the team going into the match. “We want to concentrate on our next match and not reflect on out last performance. We are fully focused on the Darmstadt match.” The team will continue their preparations tomorrow morning before a second session in the Volkspark at 13:00 CET.
