HSV sign Katterbach
Hamburger SV have secured the services of Noah Katterbach, who previously spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at the Rothosen, on a long-term contract.
HSV have strengthened their squad shortly before the end of the transfer window with the signing of Noah Katterbach from Bundesliga side 1. FC Köln. The 22-year-old is no stranger to Hamburg – Katterbach initially moved on loan to HSV last January, playing eleven games before tearing his cruciate ligament in April. “We kept in contact with Noah even after his loan ended in the summer of 2023, because we are absolutely convinced by him as a player and as a person,” explained director of football Claus Costa. “We are all the more pleased to have him back with us, to have another important building block to strengthen our squad, and to have secured a real team player.”
Katterbach, who can play in a number of positions in addition to his usual left-back role, has signed a long-term contract at HSV and our new number 33 is already eligible for selection. “I’m really happy to be back here at HSV and to get to work with the team, as well as the management and the fans, to achieve our main goal,” said Katterbach.
Noah Katterbach was born on April 13th, 2001 in Simmerath, North Rhine-Westphalia, and joined 1. FC Köln at the age of seven, progressing through the youth ranks to make his Bundesliga debut at the age of 18 in October 2019. He made 39 further appearances in the competition for Köln, before being loaned to FC Basel in January 2022 and then to Hamburger SV exactly one year later. He has now returned after a successful period of rehabilitation in Cologne.
