HSV sign Daniel Elfadli
Daniel Elfadli has joined the Rothosen from 1. FC Magdeburg on a permanent deal.
Hamburger SV have completed the signing of German-Libyan midfielder Daniel Elfadli. HSV had already expressed an interest in the 27-year-old last summer, but after a year in the making a move has finally materialised. Director of professional football Claus Costa is delighted to have finally got his man: “We’ve had Daniel on our radar for some time now and are very happy that the transfer has now worked out – his signing will increase our quality in defensive midfield. Daniel has good pace, tackling ability and tactical awareness, and his versatility increases our defensive flexibility.”
Elfadli joins HSV from fellow 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Magdeburg, and will link up with his new teammates at the squad’s training camp in Schneverdingen on Monday. “Daniel has played more than 50 second division games over the past two seasons, so he knows the league inside out and won’t need long to acclimatise,” said Costa.
Elfadli, who made the leap from the Regionalliga to the second tier in 2022, is raring to go at his new club. “I can hardly wait to get started,” says the versatile midfielder, who emphasised that he is ready to give his all for his new fans. “Of course, I’ve known all about HSV since I started playing football as a boy and I’m delighted to now be a part of the club. I would have liked it to happen last year, but we stayed in touch and I’m all the happier to be here now and to be able to get started straight away.”
