HSV drawn against Meppen in DFB-Pokal

Hamburger SV will face SV Meppen in the first round of the 2024/25 DFB-Pokal. HSV’s tie against the historic Lower Saxony side was confirmed in Saturday’s draw, overseen by former Bundesliga professional Nils Petersen. Meppen were relegated from the 3. Liga in 2023 and narrowly missed out on an immediate return to the third tier last season.

HSV board member Stefan Kuntz is eagerly anticipating the match. “It’s a nice clash between two northern clubs, which will be looked forward to by fans from both Hamburg and the Emsland,” said Kuntz at the conclusion of the draw. “We’ll go into the first round with great confidence.” Dates for each of the first-round fixtures will be announced by the DFB in the coming days.
