HELM AG become HSV’s new sleeve partner in cooperation with Plan International

Family-owned Hamburg company HELM AG have agreed a three-year partnership with HSV. They have given children’s rights organisation Plan International Deutschland the right to appear on HSV’s sleeves in every league game. Their joint aim is to raise awareness in order to advance the rights of children and particularly young women and girls.

Family-owned Hamburg company HELM AG, who have already supported the club as a supplier since 2022, will be the new sleeve partner of HSV for the next three years from the 2024/25 season onwards. A first for the 2. Bundesliga is that HELM AG will give the right to appear on the sleeves in every league game to children’s rights organisation Plan International Deutschland. For more than 85 years, this organisation, which is also based in Hamburg, has set out to advance the rights of children around the world, in particular young women and girls.

“As we’re a family business in its third generation, making us a sustainable company in the long-term who are aware of our responsibility is a matter that’s very close to my heart. Therefore, I’m very proud that we’ve set up this project with Plan and HSV to support women and girls and achieve something big together,” said HELM AG CEO Stephan Schnabel.

HSV’s chief financial officer Dr. Eric Huwer added: “This special partnership with HELM AG has never been seen before in the Bundesliga or 2. Bundesliga. We’re very pleased to have agreed this long-term partnership between three longstanding Hamburg institutions and lay down a marker of our strong and sustainable support for children and equality in the world.”

As an independent development and humanitarian organisation, Plan International work to advance children’s rights and in particular equality for young women and girls in more than 80 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe.

“Having HELM AG and HSV as partners allows us to do even more to create a better future for children and particularly young women and girls around the world. That’s why we’re very pleased about this long-term partnership which will start with the sleeves. This cooperation will be shaped by mutual values of respect, sustainability and transparency,” said Petra Berner, national organisation director for Plan International Deutschland.

Johannes Haupt, Senior Director of Team HSV at Sportfive, is also excited to get the ball rolling on the collaboration. “We're thankful to HELM AG for the numerous positive conversations and are delighted to work together on a long-term partnership. HELM AG’s delegation of their sleeve sponsor to Plan International, who support girls and young women across the world, speaks volumes for social responsibility and provides support to the next generation.”

HELM AG will continue to have a presence in and around the Volksparkstadion through their collaboration with Plan International, with their logo set to appear on the sleeve of the Rothosen’s shirts in every DFB-Pokal fixture in the upcoming campaign. Furthermore, the HELM logo will be printed on the players’ warm-up jackets, signalling their connection to the children’s charity and the partnership between the two companies.

The trio of partners will endeavour to implement a number of measures by the end of 2027, in order to help provide support to both children and girls and bring issues to light concerning their rights.
