Gideon Jung: Premature contract extension
The 21 year old midfielder has put pen to paper on a deal which lasts until 2020.
HSV have extended the contract of talented midfielder Gideon Jung, the club announced this week. His current contract had until 2018 to run. The new contract expires on June 30th 2020: "We are delighted to have been able to tie such a talented with such potential to our club long term. He took his first steps at Bundesliga level with us and it is a good sign that he would like to stay with us over coming years", explained club boss Dietmar Beiersdorfer. Gideon Jung himself is happy that he can spend the next four years in Hamburg. He told us "I feel great support at HSV, which is why I was thrilled about the contract extension offer. I didn’t have to think long before I agreed to it."
Jung joined the Rothosen two years ago from third division club Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. The midfielder who hails from Düsseldorf has managed 22 Bundesliga appearances for HSV and has played 28 times for the reserves. The youngster made his Bundesliga debut on August 15th 2015 away to Bayern Munich. Baptism of fire or what! Sadly, Jung tore a tendon in his hip during the 1-1 Bundesliga home draw with FC Ingolstadt at the weekend and is expected to be out of action for three to four weeks. Gedeon is already working hard on his comeback and is keen to return as soon as possible: “I want to collect a lot of points with the team this season”, says the talent, who sadly also had to decline a call up to the German under-21 squad because of the injury.
