Bitter news: Nicolai Müller out for months

A scan at a university hospital in Hamburg revealed that the midfielder who scored the winning goal in the 1-0 home win against FC Augsburg on Bundesliga matchday 1 suffered cruciate ligament damage to his right knee and will be sidelined for several months.

Bitter news for Nicolai Müller and HSV: The dynamic midfielder damaged cruciate ligaments in his right knee during the game against FC Augsburg which the Rothosen won 1-0. He is expected to be out of action for up to seven months and will undergo surgery next week. HSV sport boss was understandably shocked by the news. He told HSV.de: “The diagnosis is a huge shock for us and a bitter blow at the start of the season. It is especially bitter for Nicolai. We wish him a speedy recovery and will give him all the support he needs.”

The injury occurred as Müller landed badly while celebrating his 8th minute opening goal at the Volksparkstadion in the opening game of the new season. He tried to play on but had to be replaced by Aaron Hunt on 15 minutes.

The team at HSV.de with Nicolai Müller a full and speedy recovery.
