Ambrosius and Vagnoman receive call-up for under-21 Euros
The two HSV youngsters have been included in Stefan Kuntz’s final squad for the tournament in Hungary and Slovenia.
The DFB announced its squad for the under-21 European championships in Hungary on Monday morning (15th March). The 23rd under-21 European competition was supposed to take place in Slovenia and Hungary in June 2021, but due to the current coronavirus situation UEFA decided to split the tournament in half. The group stage will now take place between the 24th and 31st March 2021, whilst the knockout round will take place at the end of the season from the 31st May to 6th June 2021. An unusual tournament format, for which the German squad has now been finalised, including two HSV players, Josha Vagnoman and Stephan Ambrosius. Both are homegrown talents, moving up through the Rothosen’s academy before making the step-up to the first team. The pair have established themselves at the heart of the HSV defence this season, Ambrosius making 21 appearances and Vagnoman 17, the latter also able to add two goals and two assists to his account.
