Match Preview vs SV Sandhausen
It’s here. The final match of the first round of fixtures of the 22/23 2. Bundesliga season is upon us and SV Sandhausen are the visitors.
SV Sandhausen will help us closeout the “Hinrunde” of the 22/23 2. Liga season at the Volksparkstadion on Saturday afternoon. The final home game before the winter break has come around fast and we’re already half through the season. A win on Saturday will give HSV the chance to secure second place going into the second half of the season. Our last competitive fixture until the end of January. Let’s end it with a bang!

Our Opponents:
Sandhausen ended last season very strongly, steering themselves clear of relegation and making themselves a very tough team to beat, we know that only too well. This season under Alois Schwartz though, inconsistently has been the key theme, especially throughout their recent run of games. In their last 10 games, Sandhausen have only picked up two league victories, one being their DFB Pokal triumph over Karlsruhe SC. Familiar face, David Kinsombi, is leading the line in the statistics department for Sandhausen. Since his move south from the Elbe, he has already contributed to nine goals this season, score six himself. Playing alongside his brother, Kinsombi has finally found himself some form. Although we hope he doesn’t fully enjoy his return to the Volksparkstadion on Saturday afternoon.

HSV Round Up:
“It is crucial that no opponent is defeated in passing, SV Sandhausen will be a tough nut to crack.” Tim Walter’s main theme during the Press conference for Saturday’s game. With the highs of the Regensburg win at home, the lows of the midweek defeat to Fürth hit harder. SV Sandhausen must be respected like our coach says and that starts from the first whistle on Saturday infront of more than 53.000 HSV Fans. No injury updates to report on, although Bakery Jatta was seen back out on the training pitch this week, a very positive part of the week!

Match Facts:
Spectator Giant
On average, more than 50,000 spectators attend HSV home games in the Volksparkstadion this season, which is the top figure in the 2.Bundesliga - and, incidentally, almost 4 times the population of Sandhausen. And: Even in the Bundesliga, only 5 clubs have a higher average attendance than HSV. The best fans!
With brains
Sandhausen have conceded 8 goals with headers so far, which is the highest number in the league, as well as the highest number of chances allowed after high crosses. It's interesting to note that HSV, with its 8 headed goals, is one of the strongest teams in the league, and Robert Glatzel's 4 headed goals are also tops in the league.
It's all about scoring goals
No team in the league has fewer shots on goal than SV Sandhausen (176). HSV, on the other hand, are among the top 3 in terms of creating goal-scoring chances (252). May they be used as often as possible on Saturday against SVS...
