Match Preview vs SV Sandhausen
The finale. Sandhausen away, anything is still possible on the final matchday of the 2022/23 season.
HSV end their 2022/23 2. Bundesliga season away to already-relegated SV Sandhausen. Knowing that only three points plus help from other teams is enough for automatic promotion. The win over SpVgg Greuther Fürth secured third place and the promotion play-off fixture but more is still waiting on the table for Tim Walter’s side. All 2. Bundesliga fixtures play side by side on Sunday and by full time, the fate HSV will be known. As usual an exciting weekend in prospect.
Our Opponents:
Sandhausen have had a very good stay in the 2. Liga but this season just seemed to much for the side from Baden-Württemberg. After the change of managers, it looked like a last minute spur was to come from Sandhausen, but last weekends defeat to Heidenheim secured a trip back to the 3.Liga for the first time since 2012. Interim manager Gerhard Kleppinger side have picked up the most yellow cards in the 2. Liga this season, so no easy game is ever to come out of Hartwald.
HSV Round Up:
HSV will head into the final matchday of the season knowing that the three points may not be enough to secure automatic promotion. Despite being reliant on Heidenheim to slip up on Sunday afternoon, Walter stated in the Thursday Press Conference that they will not be keeping an eye on other results. “We have to deliver and win our game. That is what we can influence. The game on the other pitch is not interesting for now, we can look at the result after the final whistle." The suspended Bakery Jatta and Ludovit Reis will miss the final away match of the regular season.
