Match Preview vs Hannover 96
A northern dual this easter weekend as Hannover 96 visit the Volksparkstadion for Matchday 27.
The end of the season is creeping in and the games start to appear thick and faster than before. Hannover 96 will make a short trip to the Volksparkstadion where HSV will be looking to get back to winning ways for the first time in a month. A sold out stadium once again will be back the team to hopefully, what will be an important win.

Our Opponents:
Hannover have struggled for the past two seasons to get into any real groove in the 2. Bundelsiga. After another change of manager for this season, it doesn’t look like that will improve until perhaps next season. Following his one year stint in the Bundesliga with Greuther Fürth, Stefan Leitl took over in the summer with big expectation on his shoulders. Despite key players and goal scorers Havard Nielsen, Maxi Beier and Cedric Teuchert, the Niedersachen natives sit at the wrong end of the table. Despite a rejuvenate victory over SV Sandhausen at the weekend, that was the first three points picked up since November. As much as a win is important for HSV, Hannover badly need to collect the points to avoid falling into a late relegation scrap.

HSV Round Up:
Things never seem straight forward in the HSV line up these days and it looks no different for this upcoming match. Miro Muheim will serve a suspension based on yellow cards accumulated while Javi Montero is also out due to this sending off last weekend. The Volksparkstadion will be once again sold out with 57,000 places been taken inside our home ground and Tim Walter said this during the Thursday Press Conference: “We are a team, we do everything together and catch that together. At the end of the day, I trust my boys 100 per cent. I trust every player to play from the start.”

Match Facts:
Justified glimmer of hope
After 26 completed match days in the 2022/23 season, HSV are "only" in play-off place. However, the positive signs for a successful final spurt are still there, because: 50 points at this point in time is a 2. Bundesliga record for the Rothosen, and in addition, the squad were able to win 6 of the last 7 games of the season last season (2021/22). And: The gap to a direct promotion place (1. FC Heidenheim, 51 points) is only one point. Everything is still possible!
Hannover back on track
After 9 games without a win in the second division, Hannover 96 finally achieved a redemptive victory last weekend. The team from Lower Saxony defeated SV Sandhausen at home (3:1) and climbed back up to a single-digit position in the table (9). The decisive man for the Reds was ex-HSVer Derrick Köhn, who prepared the 1:1 and scored the 2:1 himself. Born in Hamburg, he learned to play at Bramfelder SV, but switched to the Rothosen youth team as a 14-year-old (2013). Via Bayern ll and Willem ll, Köhn finally landed on the Leine last summer. A key player!
Nine tries without success
In 9 competitive games against HSV, Stefan Leitl has not managed a win, neither as a player nor as a coach. The Munich native coached a total of 6 league games against the Red Shorts for SpVgg Greuther Fürth and Hannover 96, but only managed 2 draws and conceded 4 defeats. The 96 record of HSV head coach Tim Walter is quite different. The 47-year-old lost only one of his 5 games against the Lower Saxons (3 wins, 1 draw) and won the last two comparisons with 2-1 in each case. So there is still a glimmer of hope!
