Match Preview vs 1. FC Nürnberg
HSV head back home to begin the month of March following a tense February. 1. FC Nürnberg are the visitors for Saturday afternoon.
February is over, two away trips and draws to our promotion challengers with two solid victories over Rostock and Bielefeld. With 3 games up until the international break, 1. FC Nürnberg and former HSV coach Dieter Hecking will be looking to put a dent in the HSV season and try to revive their own. A 2-0 victory during the reverse fixture back in August, with goals from Mario Vuskovic and Robert Glatzel securing an early three points in the season.

Our Opponents:
1. FC Nürnberg have ran through all of the emotions this season, after being tipped to perform fairly well in the 2. Liga this season, they have simply struggled with consistency. Two managers have went out the door in Robert Klauß and Markus Weinzierl, Director of Sport and former HSV coach Dieter Hecking has since stepped into the role to guide “Der Club” out of the relegation dogfight which is heating up at the bottom of the table. Also former HSV player Jan Gyamerah will make his return to the Volksparkstadion since his departure to Bavaria during the summer transfer window. Two wins from their past five outings, two important victories over relegation favourites SV Sandhausen and Jahn Regensburg, giving them some space of five points in 13th position.

HSV Round Up:
Another difficult away trip is over and another point picked up on the road. One change from the squad will definitely take place with Moritz Heyer picking up his 5th yellow of the season. The right back will miss the Nürnberg game and giving the coaching staff an important decision over his replacement. During the Thursday afternoon press conference Coach Tim Walter spoke about the development of his squad and how the season is panning out. “Developments never run in a linear fashion, but always in curves. Maybe we're just catching our breath and then we'll reach the highest peak. We are very self-critical, but also very self-confident. That's why we are on a very high level overall and swimming on a good wave.”

Match Facts:
Traditional duel with positive HSV record
In 86 competitive matches between the two traditional clubs, HSV has won 42, while the club has only 23 successes to its name. The Rothosen have lost only 4 of the past 35 encounters and only one of the past 12 games. There was also reason to celebrate in the first half of the season: Hamburg won the reverse fixture at the club 2:0. A good omen.
Fortress Volkspark
3:1 against SSV Jahn Regensburg (Matchday 15), 4:2 against SV Sandhausen (Matchday 17), 4:2 against Eintracht Braunschweig (Matchday 18) and most recently 2:1 against Arminia Bielefeld (Matchday 21): HSV has delivered in the past four league games at Volksparkstadion. The series is tantamount to the best home run under head coach Tim Walter (since summer 2021). As the sporting home port will once again be packed to bursting tomorrow (Saturday, 4 March, from 12.45 p.m. live on HSVnetradio), a first-class atmosphere is once again expected to push the team to its fifth home win.
Glatzel and Duah as difference makers
Robert "Bobby" Glatzel has scored 14 of HSV's 41 goals this season, and his 34% share of the league total is bettered only by one player: FCN centre-forward Kwadwo Duah has only scored 7 goals, but is responsible for 39% of all Nuremberg goals. The London-born Swiss with Ghanaian roots has already scored the winning goal 3 times and also scored the golden goal in the 1:0 home win against SVS last Saturday. But: When Glatzel scores, HSV does not lose (9 wins, 2 draws). I'd like to keep it that way.
