Josha Vagnoman moves to VfB Stuttgart

A true homegrown continues his development in the Bundesliga: Josha Vagnoman joins VfB Stuttgart and signs a long-term contract with the Swabians. The 21-year-old full-back's time at HSV thus comes to an end after twelve years. "Josha Vagnoman's development represents the path we have taken at HSV and is also a role model for many other youth players. Thanks to the excellent training in the youth training centre, Josha has become an established professional who is now taking the next step in his career," says board member Jonas Boldt on the departure. "We agreed to the transfer with a heavy heart, but the economic framework conditions cushion the sporting loss according to our ideas. As a native of Hamburg, he will always be connected with the city and the club anyway, and we wish him maximum success for his new task in Stuttgart." Josha Vagnoman looks at his departure with one laughing and one crying eye: "Leaving HSV after twelve years is incredibly difficult for me. I grew up in this city and with this club, and I developed into a professional here. I look back with gratitude on my time in the youth development centre and with the professionals, and I will never forget the support of the fans. I will always keep HSV in my heart and of course continue to follow the promising path."

In the summer of 2010, the two-footed defender came to the Rothosen from Hummelsbüttler SV and went through all the youth teams from then on. His extraordinary talent became apparent early on, and "Josh" celebrated his debut with the HSV professionals at the age of 17 years and 89 days (March 2018), thus becoming the youngest Bundesliga player in the club's history to date. This was followed by 71 further competitive matches in which the Hamburg native scored five goals and set up four others. Parallel to his club career at Volkspark, Vagnoman played a total of 19 youth internationals for various DFB selection teams and was crowned European U21 champion in the summer of 2021. The dynamic model athlete now wants to celebrate his next great successes with VfB Stuttgart.
