Jordan Beyer joins HSV on loan deal
The 19-year-old right back moves from Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach to Hamburg until the end of the current season.
Hamburger SV have shored up the full-back position with the signing of Jordan Beyer on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach until the end of the current Bundesliga 2 season. The 19-year-old is under contract with the Foals long-term, and will help the Rothosen out in a position that has become available due to the injuries to Jan Gyamerah and Josha Vagnoman. However, the youngster is flexible and can play in all positions across the back four, and will link up with his teammates for the afternoon training session in Lagos on Tuesday (14th January) after landing in Portugal.
HSV Head of Sport Jonas Boldt was thrilled that the Rothosen were able to secure the services of their ‘number one candidate’. “It looked like the loan wouldn’t happen, as Borussia Mönchengladbach didn’t want to let the player leave. In the end, they did let him go so we’d like to thank Borussia for their willingness to co-operate with us. Jordan celebrated his Bundesliga debut under Dieter Hecking so all signs certainly point towards the fact that the two will work well together. For Jordan what’s most important is to play as many games as possible and develop himself.” The new signing similarly cannot wait to get started: “After I discussed my situation with Borussia Mönchengladbach we came to the conclusion that a loan move to HSV would be the best solution for all parties. Naturally, I want to play as much as possible and do my bit in reaching the goal we’ve set ourselves for the season. Having already worked with Dieter Hecking in Mönchengladbach it makes the start a bit easier as I know how the manager wants to play football.”
Jordan Beyer represented his home town club SV Thomasstadt Kempen during his youth, before entering Fortuna Düsseldorf’s academy at the age of 12. Three years later, the 15-year-old moved up the Rhine to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer of 2015, making his professional debut on the 19th August 2018 during the Foals’ DFB-Pokal game against BSC Hastedt. Six days later the right-back was also in the starting XI as Gladbach defeated Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 in the Bundesliga. Beyer’s manager then? None other than Dieter Hecking. 12 subsequent first team appearances followed for Beyer after the Leverkusen game, with hopefully more to follow during his time in Hamburg.
