Jatta and Heyer out injured
In the DFB Pokal duel at RB Leipzig, both HSV professionals injured their ankles. The subsequent examinations now brought the bitter results.
On Tuesday evening (18 October), HSV not only suffered a 4-0 defeat at RB Leipzig in the DFB Cup, but also lost its two right wingers during the 90 minutes. Offensive player Bakery Jatta was injured in a running duel in the 68th minute and had to be substituted. Right-back Moritz Heyer was injured six minutes later after a violent tackle by Josko Gvardiol.
On Wednesday, the HSV pros were thoroughly examined in the UKE, and the fears of the Hamburg officials, who already suspected serious injuries immediately after the final whistle, were confirmed in the MRI examinations: Jatta suffered a double tear of the lateral ligament in his ankle, Heyer also suffered a tear of the lateral ligament in his ankle as well as a strain of the syndesmosis ligament. Both will be out of action in the coming weeks and will not be available to coach Tim Walter for the time being.
