"It was a unified team performance".
Beim 2:0-Heimerfolg gegen Düsseldorf war der HSV von Anfang an voll in der Partie und gab diese mit einer souveränen Vorstellung auch nicht mehr her. Lob gab es von Tim Walter daher für das gesamte Team.
Last week, HSV only got off to a moderate start despite a 3:2 victory in Kiel, which they deserved in the end, and were lucky not to have been running after a deficit at the Förde. That the Red Shorts had taken this sleepy opening phase to heart was evident from the first minute of the home match against Fortuna Düsseldorf on Saturday (17 September). After only 90 seconds, Laszlo Benes' long-range shot hit the crossbar. Florian Kastenmeier also had to make a save from the crossbar in the 8th minute. The aluminium spell was broken once again by Robert Glatzel, who in the 21st minute pushed a perfect pass from Bakery Jatta over the line to make it 1:0. It was the latter who finally put the lid on the deserved home victory in the 90th minute and made the Volkspark, filled with 49,616 spectators, shake. It was the final point in a game that ended with 19 shots on goal to 4 and gave HSV their fourth win in a row. The players were happy and satisfied after the final whistle. Quotes from the game.
Sebastian Schonlau: In the last few games it was a bit bumpy at the beginning, so today we planned to come out of the dressing room at full throttle and take the stadium with us. At the beginning of the second half Düsseldorf came a bit more, we had to endure that, but overall we played very compact and were extremely willing. And: We kept our cool this time, didn't get nervous and deserved to win the game. We now want to keep the tempo and the pressure up and continue there after the international break, because as nice as everything is at the moment - it's only Matchday 9.
"I love this team!" Jonas Meffert
Jonas Meffert: Düsseldorf has a really good team, so it's part of it sometimes that you can't have an upper hand for 90 minutes. We noticed that in the first 20 minutes of the second half, but through our changes we were able to turn it around, the guys who came in did really well. And then we deservedly scored the second goal in the end. Overall, we ran the ball well, dominated the game and defended well at the back and played to nil again. It was a really good game today, I'm very proud of us. We are a really good team, I love this team!
Laszlo Benes: It was a good game from the first to the last minute and a deserved victory. Everyone who was on the pitch gave everything and played for the team. I'm very happy about this victory, especially since we could have led by more in the first half, but we were a bit unlucky today with the crossbar and the post. In addition, we didn't allow anything at the back and so we deserved this victory.
"More is not possible!" Bakery Jatta
Bakery Jatta: We deserved to win because we played a great game as a team. We were all wide awake and everyone was ready to defend our goal. That makes us strong. And then my goal with my head - of course that's all I can do, I'm really happy.
Miro Muheim: I was a bit late on the pitch during training and the consequence was that the coach took me out of the starting eleven. He explained that to me and of course I accepted it, it was my mistake after all. Leibe did a great job, as did all the other players. It was a strong game from the whole team, where you never had the feeling that something could go wrong here, because we were wide awake and very consistent over 90 minutes.
I can throw in whoever I want at the moment Tim Walter
Tim Walter: "We were there from the start and really into the game. We created goal-scoring chances and finished them off. That's what we've been lacking in the last few weeks. It also prevented our opponents from switching. It was a unified team performance, including the players who came in. I can throw in whoever I want at the moment, everyone showed great commitment. So a big compliment to everyone. I think we deserved to win today.
Daniel Thioune: It was a more than deserved defeat. Right from the start we sensed the power that Tim's team can develop. It was only a question of time when the goal would come. In addition, we were unlucky again with an injury. We made a change at half-time, which was good for us. It was a bit more open, but we didn't have enough energy to create more chances. We are running on our last legs. We need the first suit to be able to hold our own on a night like this.
