"I trust my boys 100 per cent".
In the press conference before the home match against Hannover 96, HSV coach Tim Walter spoke about the upcoming northern duel, the rebuilding in the defence and the pressure in the season's final spurt, among other things.
The conditions could hardly be better: spring-like weather, Easter weekend and 57,000 spectators in the Volksparkstadion. When Hamburger SV welcomes Hannover 96 for their northern duel on Saturday (live on HSVnetradio from 12.45 p.m.), everything is set for a blue-white-black football festival. HSV coach Tim Walter is well aware of this, but at the same time he emphasised in today's press conference that hard work will be required. It's business as usual for the Rothosen, who have scored a whopping 50 points so far this season and are not about to let themselves be thrown off course by the recent two points from three games.
Tim Walter spoke in detail at the press conference about ...
... the personnel situation: "Jean-Luc Dompe had to deal with ankle problems last week. Unfortunately, it is similar at the moment. We don't know yet if he will be fit until Saturday. That is questionable.
... the home game in front of a special crowd: We will do our best and give everything for a football festival at Easter. But the opponent always plays along and Hannover 96 has a good team with good individual players and a lot of quality in the offensive area. Nevertheless, we want to determine the game and do everything a bit better than last time. We played well recently, but we have to reward ourselves more and be more consistent.
... the rebuilding measures in the defence: Towards the end of the season, the number of yellow cards and possible suspensions always play a role. In addition, the susceptibility to injuries increases because the games are intense and a season is long. I trust my players and have a very good squad. Mistakes are part of the game, both defensively and offensively. Football is a sport of mistakes. We are a team, we do everything together and catch that together. At the end of the day, I trust my boys 100 per cent. I trust every player to play from the start.
„The second division is a tough league. It's not a door to the Bundesliga, it's a staircase.“
... Pressure at the end in the season: "There is no doubt with us. I've stressed before that my players can't help the past here at the club. We want to make up for the past. The 2nd Division is a tough league. It's not a door to the Bundesliga, it's a staircase. You have to climb them step by step, and that's how we're going about it. We're already doing a lot of things right. We've already picked up 50 points, every one of them hard-earned. We can do everything on our own, even if we have to go through the relegation process. We know we can do it.
