HSV to undertake short training camp in Spain
Head coach Merlin Polzin hopes the training camp will lay the foundation for a successful season run-in: “we want to improve our togetherness with intense sessions in order to best prepare for the end of the campaign.”
Ahead of seven crucial final fixtures in the current 2. Bundesliga campaign, Merlin Polzin will lead a special training camp for his team in Spain, beginning this Sunday (30th March). The head coach explained the aims for the camp: “We hope that the change from the everyday training in Hamburg can help us to gain added focus in order to work on a number of details before the season run-in. The time spent together should assist in forming an even tighter-knit unit,” told Polzin, adding: “The coaching staff are very grateful to the club for allowing us this opportunity.”

The plan to undertake a training camp had been in the works for some time. “The coaching staff approached us with the intention of carrying out a training camp during the second half of the season back in December and things went from there. The decision was made to carry out this short camp due to the ideal conditions in this location,” explained director of professional football Claus Costa. “With seven games to play, this is now the perfect time to fine tune the smaller details and sharpen our senses once more.”
The training camp will take place in Mallorca at RCD Mallorca’s facilities, with the team accommodated at a hotel in the city centre of nearby Palma. The team will return to Hamburg on Wednesday (2nd April) to continue preparations for the match away to 1. FC Nürnberg next Saturday (5th April; kick-off 13:00 CEST).
