HSV sign Karabec
21-year-old attacker Adam Karabec has joined HSV on loan from reigning Czech champions Sparta Prague. He will join up with the Rothosen immediately at their training camp.
Hamburger SV have completed the signing of Adam Karabec on loan from Czech champions Sparta Prague. The 21-year-old came through Sparta’s academy and made his professional debut for the club aged 16. Karabec, who has won 22 caps for his nation’s U21 side, played 30 times in all competitions in the 2023/24 season, scoring five goals and setting up a further four. After making his professional debut in February 2020, the versatile attacking midfielder has played 141 competitive games for AC Sparta Prague, across the league, cup and various European competitions. He was part of the team that won the domestic double last season.
“Adam is a really exciting player,” said director for professional football Claus Costa. “His quality on the ball, his creativity and his strong left foot make him dangerous at all times. Adam has also already gained lots of domestic and international experience in his career with more than 150 appearances for Sparta Prague and Czech Republic’s U21s.”
HSV’s board member for sport Stefan Kuntz added: “We’ve had Adam on our radar for a while now and we’re delighted to have completed the deal. We would also like to thank his advisor Pavel Kuka and Sparta’s sporting director Tomas Rosicky, two people I’ve known for a number of years, for the constructive and productive discussions.”
Karabec, who has made his way to HSV’s training camp in Schneverdingen after completing a medical and signing his contract, is excited for his new challenge: “HSV is a great club and the Volksparkstadion is simply incredible. I can hardly wait to play here and hopefully score a few goals as well. I want to win as many games as possible with my new team and help the club achieve their main goal for this season.”
