HSV sets an example for dealing with LRS
In the first half of the Kiel home game, HSV pros Moritz Heyer and Jonas Meffert appeared with incorrectly named jerseys. This was not a mistake, but a deliberate sign by HSV to draw attention to and raise awareness of reading and spelling disorders.
This jersey does not contain a mistake, but an important message!
There are almost twice as many people with reading and writing difficulties in Germany than previously thought. An estimated 6.2 million people in Germany cannot read or write well enough. Of these, about 3 million people are affected by dyslexia, the reading and spelling disorder.
There are various symptoms that give rise to the suspicion of a reading and spelling disorder (LRS). Often, letters that sound or look similar are mixed up. Errors such as consonant doubling or upper and lower case letters are also not uncommon stumbling blocks for the people affected.
With this campaign, we would like to draw attention to dyslexia, raise awareness and call for more tolerance.
Every person, regardless of any disabilities, illnesses or other individual characteristics, should be able to participate in the HSV on an equal and self-determined basis. This also includes the opportunity to inform themselves independently about current topics concerning HSV. To make this possible for fans with LRS, we regularly provide the latest news about HSV in plain language on our website. Easy language is a simplified version of German: Short sentences, simple and familiar words as well as pictures that support the understanding of the text are essential characteristics. Information on founding a fan club and our comprehensive dictionary in plain language can also be found on our Website.
