HSV set for training camp in Schneverdingen
After completing performance and medical tests over the weekend, Hamburger SV will head to Schneverdingen for a training camp on Monday, 1st July. Head coach Steffen Baumgart is taking 27 players with him.
The summer break is over and preparations for the 2024/25 season are now starting to get underway. After the Rothosen, split up into two groups, completed the standard pre-season screening tests at the UKE Athleticum on Saturday and Sunday, Steffen Baumgart’s team will travel to Schneverdingen for the first of two summer training camps on Monday (1st July). The team bus will depart in the morning to make the 70km journey to the Landhotel Schnuck. The first training session in Lower Saxony is scheduled for 15:30 CEST.
27-man squad named
Baumgart has named a 27-man squad for the one-week training camp, which will see his players train twice a day and finish off with a friendly against TuS Neetze on Saturday (6th July, 14:00 CEST). Goalkeepers Matheo Raab, Daniel Heuer Fernandes, Tom Mickel and Hannes Hermann will all be involved, however Marko Johansson, who was recently on loan at Hansa Rostock, will remain in Hamburg and train with the U21s after conversations with the sporting management. Jonas David and Valon Zumberi have also returned from loan spells and will travel to Schneverdingen, alongside Immanuel Pherai and Anssi Suhonen, who were recently on international duty. The 23 outfield players include four youngsters from the academy in Otto Stange, Bilal Yalcinkaya, Fabio Balde and Omar Sillah. Only William Mikelbrencis remains on holiday as he was still playing for France U20s on 16th June.
